The Catalan stages of the 2026 Tour de France
Stage 1 – Barcelona > Barcelona (4 July)
The 2026 edition kicks off with a spectacular 19.6 km team time trial through the streets of Barcelona.
Riders will pass some of the city's most iconic spots before finishing at Montjuïc, in a visually stunning day that will draw hundreds of thousands of spectators.
Stage 2 – Tarragona > Barcelona (5 July)
The second stage starts in Tarragona, a UNESCO World Heritage city.
The route follows the Mediterranean coast for the first kilometres, passing several seaside towns. From the area around Begues, the terrain gets tougher until returning to Barcelona, where riders face several climbs up Montjuïc Castle, a perfect finish for the favourites to start making their mark.
Stage 3 – Granollers > Les Angles (6 July)
This is probably the day that will interest mountain lovers the most.
The third stage sets off from Granollers, crossing Catalunya's inland regions before entering the Pyrenees towards Les Angles in France.
It will be the first major mountain stage of the Tour, covering nearly 196 km and almost 3,850 metres of total ascent, a day when the contenders for the yellow jersey will start to reveal their cards.
The Tour starts in Barcelona and then moves inland, including several days in the Pyrenees. Some of the towns on the route are Ripoll, Puigcerdà and generally areas near Berguedà. Riders will cycle roads with mountain views and charming villages, perfect for those who appreciate nature and slow tourism.
